RULES
- Promo code rules can be defined down into two subsections: Limiters & Specifiers. Limiter rules restrict promo codes, and specifiers add requisites for the promo code to qualify on a purchase.
- There are two rules which do not fit in these categories. The "Global" & "Remove Service Fee" rules.
The "Global" Rule
- When the "Global" rule is enabled on a promo code, the system will apply this discount to every single show that is on sale.
- Please use this rule with caution, and only if you intend for a promo code to apply to all your events & shows.
The "Remove Service Fee" Rule
- The "Remove Service Fee" rule is an additional perk that can be applied to a promotional code, and does exactly what it says: removes the service fee.
- While this can be useful for promotions where there is no charge to the customer, please note that removing the service fee does not preclude the fee from being charged to the venue. There is still a fee requirement for the processing of the ticket, and this fee will instead be deducted from the cost of the ticket, or billed to the venue separately (contact us if you have a question regarding your fee schedule).
LIMITER RULES
- Limiters put restraints on how a promo can be used, when it can be applied, and where it can be redeemed. Each rule imposes a limit to the promo code’s redemption.
- **IMPORTANT** This distinction is central to the use of promo code limiter rules. If you do not want to specifically limit the use of a promo code, you do not need to use any of these sub-categories rules.
Checkout Type
- Store front - Limits Promo Code to Website customers only. Employees using the Box Office app will not be able to use this promo code for phone or walk-in customers.
- Box office - Limits Promo Code to Box Office sales. Only employees selling tickets to phone or walk-in customers will be able to apply this promo code.
**If you leave both Store front & Box office blank, then both will be active. Leaving both options blank is the same as checking both boxes.**
Days before show
- This rule limits the promo code to only become available the specified amount of days before a show.
Purchase Date Range
- The Purchase Date Range allows the promo code to be limited to a specific window of time for the promo code to be redeemed.
Purchase Day Of Week
- This rule limits the promo code to be used only on the selected purchase days.
- Example: Selecting "Tuesday" for this rule would ensure that only customers purchasing tickets on Tuesday would be able to redeem the code.
- **Reminder** These are limiter rules. If a promo code is supposed to be redeemable during purchases on any day of the week, do not select any of the days of the week. Promo codes are automatically available every day. Selecting every day in this rule only guarantees a high probability that this rule will conflict with another rule and make the promo code completely unredeemable.
SPECIFIERS
Specifier Rules:
- Specifier rules allow a venue to create rules that have specific requirements that have to be met in order for a promotional code to apply to the customer's purchase. While these rules also limit the application of a promo code, their use can enable a venue to control more distinct aspects of the purchasing process.
- Instead of something generic such as what time frame or day of the week, which could apply to any number of tickets, specifiers let the venue choose the exact show, showtime, type of ticket, and number of tickets to the which a promo code can be applied.
Section Name
- The Section Name rule allows a venue to define which sections (created within their seating arrangement) the promo code can be applied.
- For example: A venue has a show with two ticket types: "General Admission" & "VIP Meet & Greet". Typing "VIP Meet & Greet" into this field will make sure that this promo code is only applicable to the VIP ticket type.
- **NOTE** The name typed into this field must match the intended ticket type exactly.
Tickets Per Show
- Specifies the number of tickets that this promotion can be applied to per show.
Minimum Quantity
- This rule sets the required number of tickets in a purchase for a promo code to be applicable.
- Example: A BOGO (buy one, get one) offer. If a discount or free rate is offered on a second ticket, this rule requires that the customer actually purchase two tickets in order to redeem the promo (instead of getting partially discounted on only one ticket
